St. Michael and All Angel’s Episcopal
Issaquah, Washington, 1992
Originally designed to be a residence organ for the builder, the work began in 1979 in Seattle and was continued in Portland. As the instrument neared completion, an opportunity arose for a permanet home at St. Michael and All Angel’s Episcopal in Issaquah. The organ was then installed and completed by 1992.
The casework is a simple design, incorporating solid red oak with access from the rear. The façade pipes consist of the 4’ Principal in polished tin and 4’ Koppelflute in polished copper. The windchests are new and of direct valve design. The console is new and designed to be moved easily through normal doorways. Most of the pipework is new. Most of the metal pipes were hand crafted by Laukhuff of Germany. The original 8’ Dulzian was replaced by an 8’ Trumpet from Killenger of Germany in 2009. The original concept was to have an enclosed Swell division but space limitations prevented that inclusion. The instrument provides leadership in congregational singing as well as to accompany the small choir at the Church.
