Augustana Lutheran
Portland, Oregon 1989
This organ utilizes the existing Reuter pipe organ that was located in two separate chambers. Both divisions were under expression. A new 3M console was introduced, allowing the existing Great division to be located in the center between the two chambers with the left chamber becoming the new Choir division. New and vintage windchests and pipework were added to realize the final design.
The façade pipes consist of the 8’ Principal in flamed copper pipes. All of the existing Reuter windchests were retained and thoroughly rebuilt. New windchests were added and of direct valve design as well as a vintage ventil chest. Repurposed from St. Michael’s Lutheran. A new console was built that included rocker tab stop action units and a new switching system from Solid State Organ Systems. Most of the new metal pipes were hand crafted by Stinkens of Holland. All of the existing Reuter pipework was rescaled and revoiced to match the new sounds of the organ.
